Yun Profile Photo
I was born and raised in China, graduated from Beijing University and moved to the United States in my early twenties.  I completed my Master degrees in the United States and have been working as an IT Professional for most of my career.  I consider myself fortunate that I’m able to pursue art while working full-time. For the past several years, I’ve been studying painting with Max Ginsburg and am constantly inspired by the legacy of old masters such as Rembrandt, Velázquez, Zorn and Sargent.  And my passion for the arts goes beyond painting. I’m also a Chinese folk dancer with CCAA and perform regularly in various venues for cultural celebrations. My passions meet in my paintings of gorgeous and fearless dancers.
I think about painting all the time…Often when I close my eyes and sometimes in my dreams. The subjects are infinite!  Portrait painting is my favorite genre; since I can see and capture the subtle and hidden emotions of my models. Human faces are beautiful in my eyes, as they reflect the stories of a person’s life. I often see myself in my models and can feel what the model is feeling when I study them for long hours. I have also begun to paint more landscapes as it’s a great escape into nature and makes me feel absolutely free in spirit. With every brush stroke, I sometimes struggle until midnight; trying hard to depict the truth and beauty in life. It is my most sincere hope, to share all I have found inspiring with you.
